Im finally suppose to be picking up a set of controls for my motor (91 mariner 115) & i believe these controls will work just fine but i wanted to check just to be sure before i hand over the cash. The controls im buying came off a 88 merc 115 inline 6 but they have the 8 pin connecter like my motor. Thx in advance guys.

Heres the pics of the controls

Laddies, is the tilt/ trim ran through the 8 pin harness from the control box or would it be ran on seperate wires? What im asking is if i plug the 8 pin harness into my motor would the tilt/ trim work or is there other wires besides the harness to connect for it?

Most controls that vintage had the trim wire separately, with the ribbon wires down the outside of the other harness anyway thats the way my 87 115 ELPTO was from the factory

Okay so the control box i had that was no good on the harness that plugs into the motor had four wires besids the 8 pins. (blue/green/light brown/dark brown) The controls i have now has the 8 pin harness & three wires running seperately not with the harness like mine, but then the three wires split into six wires & three of them go into a three prog plug. The plug has flat progs. Any help with that? ill get pics tommorrow & post them up so you can see exactly what im talking bout.

That plug was to the "in the boat" trim pump. You will also have to install a hot/oil horn as that box does not have a internal one...

no oil alarm? & over heat alarm? My boat has a temp gauge so wouldnt that be just as good as a over heat alarm? I also have another thread where im wanting advice about doing away with the oil injection & run a premix. What about the other 3 wires, are they trim?

Faztbullets right that box don't have a warning horn in it, here's a diagram showing the extra wires and the trim wires in the harness and one for the solenoids on the engine.

Try using the zoom level in the bottom right corner of your browser, if thay don't work I will see if my son can do a larger one or if that can be blown up some how.

As of right now i just need to know what wires to hook up so that i can operate the trim so i can move the boat to my house. The motor is trimmed down & it cant be moved like that. Thx

With the battery hooked up and the engine harness plugged in the blue/white from the control hooks to the up solenoid (should be the top) and the green/white to the down (bottom) and it should work. If you want I can PM you the original wiring diagram without any text message you can then save it in your documents and use the preview to blow it up as large as you want.

Also my original control box which is a quicksilver commander 2000 series when in forward you con push the throttle wide open & the control lever would be parallel. The control lever in neutral to WOT would make a 90 degree angle. The older control box i just bought at WOT the lever on moves a 1/4 of what the other would. Is there something wrong with this one?

Re: Will these controls be compatable with my motor?

Could i just swap the internals over to my other quicksilver box? The parts its missing from this one. The ignition switch, neutral switch & kill switch? The other box i want to put the parts on has a oil/heat alarm.
