Will these lower units interchange

I have a mercury 60hp see number 6550295 with a bad lower get a deal on a lower for a 40 hp ser number g058391 from I I have found it they will work but just want to double check I think the 40 has a 2.1 ratio vs the 1.87 of the 60hp can some one help me here

Nope as housing bolt pattern is different and shifting set up...

What about this part number will it work. 1643-9539c will it work for the 60 hp motor

Good deal that unit is off the 40hp motor and that is the numbers on it

can you help!!!!!! i have a 650 merc 4cyl 1971 with a bad lower leg, i have been offered a good lower leg off a 1984 50hp 4cyl, would this fit??

seems like your the man to ask
