Will these two outdrives interchange

I have two outdrives and the one that came on boat is not as in good as shape as the other one. Plus the one I want to put on boat was mine at one time and I had new u joints and impeller and all done to it so I know a little history on it. It came off of a 1970 Invader with a 3.0. It's going on a 1985 Wellcraft with a 3.0 I don't have sn from the one from 1970 but the one off of the 85 is A377815. The older one has the hole in the top of outdrive for the rod to hold it. I will try and get SN number tomorrow.

Measure the input shaft. Some of the older ones were different length from the newer ones. Otherwise it should fit.

Apart from swapping the input shafts, it'll bolt right up....

new to all this when you say input shaft you are referring to long shaft that goes into gimbal bearing correct? Also how do i determine the gear ratio's on these outdrives?

Yes the shaft that goes into the coupler. They made 2 different lengths. If the ratio is not marked and you don't know what it was originally installed on you can turn the input shaft until the prop turns 1 time and count the revolutions of the input shaft.

ok looks like im going to change them out. Older one is 8" the newer one is 9 1/2 "
