Will this prop physically fit my original 1969 Mercruiser outdrive? I know the pitch will probably be wrong, but I just want to experiment with it.

Here is the description from the ad.

Are you making a pitch & or a material change or simply replacing a ss with a similar ss prop?Any changes should be researched carefully. We can help with that.

Re: Will this prop physically fit my outdrive? pics

I found it cheap on craigslist. My current prop is a 14 1/4x19 aluminum. My boat is a light weight aluminum hull with plenty of acceleration. Runs top speed 35 mph empty or fully loaded, choppy or smooth. I can't remember the RPM's, but seems too much. I just thought I would buy this and put it on there just out of curiousity. I needed a spare emergency prop anyways. If I like the performance I will leave it on there and use my current prop for the spare. If not, then it will become the spare. Or I can always throw it back on craigslist and get my money back out of it.

Alright grand wizards of the propeller, I need some more help. I went and picked up that Turbo prop last night for $100. This guy was adamant that he bought it for his 135 hp mercruiser and used it for the summer. Then when he went to sell the boat, pulled it off and put the stock prop back on it. It came with a nut and some kind of spacer that he said goes on first then you slide the prop on. Also, the nut that came with it was a fine thread and mine is course thread. So removed my original prop, the small diameter thick washer and cone shaped spacer. Slid on the new spacer and the prop, no good, back of prop rubs housing. So I slid everything back off, put original spacer back on, can't remember if I put on the small diameter thick washer, the new prop with lock washer keeper, lock washer and original nut. Everything seems to fit ok and spin nicely but it seems like there is a little bit more gap, compared to the original, between the housing and prop at the back. I am concerned with ventilation. Here is a pic, I don't know if it really shows it correctly.

I have an old 100 hp tower of power lower unit in my garage. I took the nut off of it and the new nut the guy gave me fits it and I noticed some similarities between the tower of power prop and my new turbo prop. Makes me wonder.
Anyways, here is the #'s off of the Turbo prop in case maybe somebody has a catalog they can look them up in to see for sure if this is the correct prop for my outdrive. 34811708 IH
A set of the original instructions would be great also.
I searched the internet and found nothing.

Ayuh,... It appears to be a prop for a 4" gearcase Outboard...
Your outdrive is a 4, 1/2" gearcase...

It's the Wrong prop,+ will ventilate Badly if you run it...

Btw,... Resize your picture to 480x640....

Well darn, was afraid of that. I guess I will throw it back onto craigslist. Unless you guys have any suggestions? Any exchange programs? I would gladly exchange it for an aluminum 21 pitch prop that fits my gear case.
Thanks for the help guys.

Re: Will this prop physically fit my outdrive? pics

I called the guy I bought the prop from and explained to him the issues I was having. He said that he definetly used it on his Alpha drive but that mine must be the larger casing type and his was the smaller. He told me no problem, bring it back and he will give me my money back. So I ran it back over there on my lunch break and he gave me my money back. Pretty nice of him considering some of the bozo's you meet on craigslist.
