I have merc. cruiser 260.. ran fine out in the water. docked it, 2 hours later went to go back out... it wouldn't start. I replaced the condencer with a new one, installed a car Unversal coil 12volt. Cause its known good. I have juice going to the positive side of the coil, test lights dim and when start is hit it gets bright. Negative side doesn't lite the test light at all. Points look good, opening good, but no spark. Any suggestions please help..

Check the shift interrupter switch for grounding.

This may sound strange, but check your ground wire running to the alternator ground. Its often used for multiple grounds and can cause strange problems. Shift interrupter is most likely though as Trent mentions. :)

TRENT AND DAVES.........
Thanks..... but I have checked the shift interuptor as suggested... it is in the middle and appears no shorts.... I have juice to the coil on the positive side. No juice on the negative side going to the distributer..... any other suggestions...... just found out that....
when I unhook the neg. wire from the coil to the distrib. I have juice in that side of the coil...but, when I touch that wire to the distributer - -- - it sparks and kill the power on the neg. side of the coil...
