Will Yamaha controls work with Mercruiser

Wondering if Yamaha dual controls will switchout with my old (1988) Mercruiser controls. I like the Yamaha style and I can get a set for next to nothing.

They will if they have enough throw (probably do). But finding a cable to fit each end maybe tough.Morse-type 33 cables usually don't have the adjustability(there's a word)I like to see on the engine end.<br /><br />DHP

Johnnyrude uses a 5" throw and most everybody else uses 6". You just have to anchor the cable at the furthest eye away from the pivot. (Same as MerCruiser). But you need the Universal style of cable with Merc attaching kits for the motor end. As DHP, I've had problems getting full throw on those cables when those adapter kits are used. If those are factory Merc cables in there, they won't mount to the Yamaha control.
