I hope this is the right forum for this topic, I have lost the nut that tighten the rotaing gear on my windless. The modle is a Lewmar/Horizon series 900, I called Lewmar and they said I can't get a replacement until the end of November. Does anybody know where I might find a replacement nut, it's referred to in the manaul as a "Gypsy Cluch Nut" I know its meteric but not sure of the size & Lewmar will not advise.

Any help would be appriciated.

Is it just a standard metric hex nut? Or was it machined special to fit into a specific area?

Try a local hardware store. Hardware is usally sold by the pound so grab one of each in the metric sizes and go to town.

Re: Windless Gypsy Cluch Nut

Thanks Bill,

I did find a nut that would work today, however the outside diameter is smaller then the windless tool that loosen's it. The boat I was on belongs to a freind who need/wants the original size nut, Lewmar has the original nut but wants $52.00 plus tax/shipping which is almost $70.00 total.

At this point I don't mind paying the money, I just don't want to wait until the end of Novemer if I can find it locally.

Thanks

you probably not going to find the perfect match, get one to get by with until november, and a crescent wrench, if you can't wait.

Thanks Guys,

That looks like my only option, we'll do.

No Longer Nutless/Just a size issue.
