windshield "bull's eye" repair

I got smacked by a rock the other day. It gauged a nickel-sized place in my only 2-3 year old windshield. (A random act of vandalism prompted a new one then.) I feel that I need to get it fixed before it decides to spread. Do the DIY kits compare to a pro fix? Anybody used the repair kits with good results?

I swear by the professional repair but never had any experience with the DIY variety. Often your insurance will pay for windshield repair without the deductable. Ya might want to check it out. A lot of vendors will just bill your insurance.

I used the professional because I think they have more experience in doing this repair properly.

I've used the kits before from Wal-Mart.Most recently about 1 month ago on my Pathfinder.Follow the instructions to the letter.I use the type that have the syringe and plastic adapter that fit over and around the bullseye. Each blemish has its own characteristics. Some will disappear almost completely and others are still somewhat visible at a glance.Even a pro won't guarantee perfect results. It's a one shot deal so the choice is yours.
