Windshield fitting

Got lucky for a bit. I can get my hands on two perspex windows coming off a golf cart, and the supply can even be quite constant the way they are replaced at the slightest corner damage by my neighbour's company...

My boat's winshield have long time ago been removed, so expertly that no-one will guess there was one, except that all similair boats have one!

I would love some info on how I should go about replacing the windscreen. The original was supposed to be wrap around. The bending I can fix, but tips would be welcome. Its the fixing it to the boat that worries me. And of course the aluminium trim/frame would be a bummer. Basically I have a flat piece of perspex, needed to fit to the boat in a wrap around style. Any help?

You didn't mention what make your boat was. This may help to figure out what you need to do. Pics help alot also.

Re: Windshield fitting

That's the good part. I'm still trying to find out what make it is myself. Best accounts is that it is an Aristocraft, don't know year. Probably mid 60's and up.
If you can help, here is the link to the pictures.

http://f2.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/groot_brak/detail?.dir=/742d&.dnm=9fd8.jpg

Hope it helps

Re: Windshield fitting

Looks like there is a raised area in front of the steering wheel. I am making a couple wrap around windshields for 2 60's Cutters soon. I have made windshields before and did a write up for it that is on the www.fiberglassics website. You will need to figure out just what you want and make some kind of template to work with. From that you can then decide if you want to use a heat gun to bend the plastic or if an oven is the better way to go. For nice even bends I use an oven with a form to bend to. For simple bends you can use a heat gun. But keep it moving. For larger radius bends I reccomend an oven. The larger radii come out much better.
