what i did was went to a nut and bolt supply place and got stainless carriage bolts
took them to the bench grinder to take the hump off the top and then
square them off worked fine.

Go to Lowes and ask them for some Toilet Bolts. Brass, won't rust.

Ayuh,.... I did about the same,...
I went to #10 SSteel machine screws,+ ground the heads down to fit the window channel...

Check the channel itself and you may not even have to grind a normal bolt.

Thanks for your input. Maybe I'll put the windshield back on this weekend since I finished painting last weekend. I'll let you know which way I go. Again thanks.:)

Re: Windshield Slot T bolts

Ok, just wanted to pass on what I did in hopes to help someone else. I went to West Marine yesterday and ended up with 1/4 20 S.S. carriage bolts. The regular bolts had to long of a shoulder and the pan heads just did not have a large enough head to modify. So this is what I ended up with. The one on the left is the original & the one on the right is a modified carriage bolt.

And again thanks for your input it was greatly appreciated.:D

^ kind of like what i did;) lol

but like Woodonglass said the brass toilet bolts would have worked too and wouldnt
have required grinding. I think brass would be strong enough, it they hold down
a toilet you think they would hold down a windshield :)

Allbutwet,
Nice fix.
Woodonglass's idea would have worked too or you can just go to a good woodworking store and buy T Track Bolts, They come in various materials, but it looks like you found a solution anyways.
Good Job
