I got this 66 winner project that im going to be restoring. I have done a little work to it already. I got the engine lockdown fixed, the reverse lockdown fixed, lubed up the pullstart, new water impeller, the gear and throttle controls were hooked up backwards so I got that fixed that, the steering cable where it mounts to the engine was mounted wrong so got that fixed, ripped out the worst seats, started to sand primer and paint the trailer. After the trailer im going to buff the gelcoat out. The baby blue will come back for the most part(did a little section of the boat already just to see) there are some repairs a previous owner did that I have to fix on the front of the keel and the winch hook. The dark blue comes back a little but it so beat up and cracked its really not worth buffing. There is also a bunch of mounting holes I have to fix in the dark blue section and a couple cracks in the floor. While im doing that im trying to find the proper type of steering cable(it does looks like cable i can buy at home deopot). it is a solid boat tho, no floor flex at all and was on the water on sunday for 4 hrs with no issues. Ill try to keep this updated as best as I can. first 5 is how I got it. threw a video and pic of my buddies 77 carina

I had a similar boat. It had a bench seat in front of the splashwell, with fuel tanks under it. Not a bad setup as it allowed a good amount of room in the cockpit. it had 2 back-to-back seats. It has marine vinyl covering the deck. Durable and non-slip.

We had a Merc 850 on it, and it was really fast. Not sure what the max HP was.

The concerning thing was that every time you hit a wave, the bow Vee would flex a lot. It never cracked, but was unnerving. We toyed with the idea of foaming it to add strength.

Also, the boat ran dead flat in the water, due to it having a straight vee hull. Trimming never changed that. With a straight vee hull, the faster you went the higher in the water the boat would ride. Therefore at high speeds she would ventilate in corners.

Good luck with it.

@Chris1956 I was thinking about putting a small deck in the back to put a built in cooler, live well and seats and also have it cover the gas tank and stuff back there. I ripped the one seat out because it was just to far gone. Gonna end up getting new ones completely but it looked so bad I had to pull it. It ride good on the water. And I don't feel anything flex or fell weird while driving it. The floor is stupid solid. (makes me think it was redone at some point) it's got a 20hp Johnson on it but I was going to put my Merc on it (the one I'm trying to figure out exactly what year and everything so I can buy parts) but that may take longer than expected lol. After the trailer I'm going after the fiberglass work.

Small tiny update. These seats were on sale at bass pro shop and I couldn't pass them up. Got the trailer re wired also. I need to start to do all the fiberglass work but I'm getting overwhelmed reading and trying to figure out the best way to fix things.
