Hi All,
I am seriously looking at obtaining a 20ft winner viscount with a 5l v8 ford inboard and have a couple of questions..
- how much petrol would it use per hour on a normal run
- what kind of curising speeds i can expect from this engine
- is the boat stable in terms of design (have a 7yo with me) and is it big enough for a fishing trip on the south coast of england etc?

i really appreciate any advise or pointers on the boat and what to look out for when buying as I am moving from a sail boat (thou had a little microplus before)
thanks again, tom

Re: winner viscount help needed

I have a Winner Viscount and use it on the south coast. Slip at Portsmouth, poole and Wareham.
Great sea going boat.....eats waves.

I sometimes have 6 adults on board across poole Harbour which is restricted to 10 mph. With 3 bodies at front and 3 sitting on rear seat I am just able to get up on the plane - . Poodling around in the harbour I probably use 2 to 3 gallons an hour when trying to maintain the boat on the plane. Otherwise about 2 gallons.
The engine is a volvo penta straight 6 3 litre.

Very stable boat and have once conquered a force 5 going all the way across from Isle of Wight to Poole with wind over tide!! Scary. The boat was digging deep and I only kept it going by manouvering into and across the oncoming waves. Lots of water over the cockpit - but we were the only boat daring to go out that day. (Didn't mean to - it was a calm sea on the way over in the morning!)

At full speed with 4 adults at about 35 mph it uses around 4 gallons an hour. I use it for fishing and water skiing as well. The deep v hull is ideal for seagoing.
I am always available around poole in August if you would like to see the boat in action.

Hope this helps.

Its great to hear of someone looking at this classic boat - not many around.
