Well, considering it didn't start till the end of March, with numerous other interupts, it will be complete before some of my other projects! Anyway, just a few minor things left, and should be water testing on Sunday. What started out as a floor replacement, ended up with new pedistal seats (2/3rds bench removed), smart tabs, fishfinder, bilge pump, grab handle, teleflex steering (removed cable & pulley), and probably a few things I've forgotten. Feels good to be close enough to complete, to snap a pic or two.
1967 Starcraft

Nice Starcraft. Boy it really looks clean! You are going to love that new steering. Let us know how the weekend fishing trip works out.

Thanks, but your restore has been an insperation to us all. Actually, I really looking forward to trying the smart tabs out. Had a stingray jr, years ago, that was removed after one season.

Re: Winter Project, Almost Done!

Took it to the river (closest launch) this AM for test runs, prior to hauling to Cayuga or Owasco Lake on Sunday. First test was to make sure none of the new holes for the smart tabs and transducer leaked. Passed with absolutly no leaks. Transducer is reading depths at all speeds, which is new to me with the Humminbird large puck. It did plow a bit too much, so will raise it some.

First impressions of the smart tabs, bow rise is hardly noticeable, with the biggest improvement noticed on turns. Tracks like its on rails. Still have some WOT porpusing, but will wait to have the typical 2 person load before adjusting fixed trim and the smart tabs.

Steering was tight and precise. The biggest problem with the old cable and pulley system was when the plastic started to come off cable, it would start to jump the pulleys and jam. Makes for a good surprise on higher speed turns.

Engine ran fine, as usual, and just needed to lower the idle speed some. This engine was always easy to start. Never bothered with a battery, till now. Of course, it is even easier now. Christined the floor with its first dirt/mud.

Anyway, looks like a go for Sunday. Hope the weather is just like today. Have to go to a wedding, or would be heading there today!
