I am in south west Michigan the pontoon rides are about to end for the season ,Question I ran out the fuel from motor and drained and changed the lower end oil, is their any other steps I need to take? The boat is out side with a tarp over motor and boat.35 HP 2 cycle motor 1993 Model.

Does it snows or it's prettty cold out there at your location ? If not, why winterize. Run engine at idle on muffs for 5-10 minutes every month when off season. While fushing disconnect engine fuel connector till engine drops dead...

Happy Boating

You could spray some fogging oil into carb throat and spark plug holes. Turn motor over by hand to distribute oil. Reinstall spark plugs. Pump grease into fittings.

As long as it's covered and not going to get snow, ice or furry vermin in it and as long as it's stored in the down position so the lower unit doen't collect water and ice I wouldn't worry too much about it. Pull the batteries so they don't freeze.
