I recently bought a boat with a plastic gas tank. The engine has oil injection. I always use an additive for winter storage. Should I fill the tank ?

Re: Winter Storage

some do some don't. I do cause gas will probably cost more in the spring. mine only sit for 5 months or so. if over a year I would probably drain everything.

Re: Winter Storage

ya should be able to use the iboats search function for much debate on this subject.

by additive i assume ya mean stabil or the likes. yep, that's the ticket imho. i usually run stabil the last 2 or three times out so it's run through they fuel system good.

i have a metal fuel tank and had rust issues when i got it used. so i store topped off. less room for condensation and the inside of the tank can't rust because it's full of fuel.

when i had a jetski, w/ a plastic fuel tank. i ran it empty. one ski was oil injection to start with, then i modded the ski to be premix. the other ski was a 4 stroke. both i stored empty as i wasn't as concerned about rusting of the fuel tank from the inside out. that way, when spring comes by, it got fresh fuel.

like i said, it's a hotly debated subject here.
