Winterization cost at the dealership

We took our boat in yesterday, for it's winterization.

Our boat is still under warranty, and only has 23 hours on it, even though we have owned it a year in August.

I don't do the winterization, as my mechanical abilities are just below acceptable. ;) PLUS, I want it done right.

We don't know how much it will cost yet, BUT, was wondering what various dealerships charge to winterize boats.

I had some left-over spray fogging from last year, so I took it with me.

Was just curious. Last year, I paid $264.00 to have it done. That included the oil, filter, fogging oil, and lower grease. I checked at Cabela's, and Bass Pro as well, and the dealership made $1.00 on the oil, and $0.50 on the filter. (I had put in Sta-Bil myself, before taking it to the dealership).

According to Wally World prices, they made $0.25/gallon on the antifreeze they used.

I guess that he made up for it on the labor, as it was $175.00.

I'd do it myself, but I don't have the ability to pump the lower grease in the lower unit.

Anyhow, was just curious.

walmart sells the pump for the lower unit, and the pump to change the oil. $264.00 is in the correct ball park just for winterizing, $450 if they shrink wrap also.

Thanx, for your response.

HOPEFULLY, if the economy don't go clear down the toilet, I can get the boat garage built this year.

Wanted to d that last year, but work fell off for me.

Construction, here anyhow, seems to have fell off !!!!!!!!!

I know my dealer charges $100/hr labour. 1.75 hour for that work does not seem unreasonable. He probably make on the materials than you think. He would get dealer discounts on the supplies.

While I would never pay $264 for winterization (cause i can do it myself), that price seems about in line with what the marina charges around here.
