Hallo,

Sad to say but in a month I will get the boat on land and get her ready for the winter. It can get rather cold here in our area so I want to fill the engine with anti-freeze. Does anyone know how much (gallons) of antifreeze I will need (want a mix of 50% antifreeze and 50% water) to fill the engine including hoses ?
The engine is a 5.7 V8 GSI from 1999 model PWR - raw water cooled. Thanks.

Yep, -40 and colder around these parts isn't uncommon. Every I/O boat engine is winterized here and I haven't heard of any marina/service shop or diy'er adding antifreeze. It isn't necessary. Just make sure all the water is really drained since some passeges can hold some water back.

bond-o,

how do you winterize dry ? by the way we live in massena,n.y. and also have a 5.7 that i need to winterize soon. been thinking of having the marina do it, i am afraid of ruining the motor. the last owner ruined a motor by poor winterizing.
