Winterization Question

I have a 1998 175EFI.

I?ve got a really weird question.

I winterized the motor as instructed.

All went well..it was hard getting the storage seal into some of the holes as it shot out foam and the can came with no type of hose!

I went into the garage and there is what appears to be oil coming out of the lower unit housing where the prop shaft is. It looks like dirty storage seal but I could be wrong. It definitely isn?t lower unit oil.

Any ideas? If I put too much storage seal?would it have run out anywhere?

I?m at a loss.

Re: Winterization Question

This is not the answer to your question, just a comment.
You can find out if there really is damage by warming up,,NOT STARTING,, just unthawing. If a seal or pump is cracked, there should be more coming out as it thaws.
Collect the substance in a small container (let it drip) and take the substance in to a dealer to find out what it is.

Re: Winterization Question

If you fog a motor down real good so it's oily all over inside, some of it's going to drip down the exhaust system and exit around the prop. It's the same slimey goo you sprayed into the engine to preserve it.

Just put a rag under it.
