Winterization Tips for 5.0gxi-b

The time has come for me to start thinking about winterization. I have never done this as I just purchased the boat earlier this year. I have a 2002 Volvo 5.0 gxi-b engine in a 243 Chaparral Sunesta and I cannot seem to find anything that looks like block drains or manifold drains. Because of the design of the boat, geting back behind the engine is difficult, maybe I`m looking at it and just don`t realize what i`m seeing. I did find a square brass block on the starbord side of the engine down low that looks like its in the right position, but it has a disc like object with an electrical connection attached.

I plan on pulling the hoses and draining what water I can and filling the thermo housing with RV antifreeze. Any help would be appreciated.

Until you drain everything, adding antifreeze will do nothing. If something is full of water, trying to put antifreeze in it's place just isn't going to happen.

Do the job wrong, and you will be here in the spring wondering why you have water in your oil and core plugs missing, and cracks in your block.

I did some inspection last night. it looks like there is some type of Y piping with hoses coming out both sides of the block. This appears to be the site of draining the block. Now I just need to figure out how to drain the manifolds. There are no outwardly appearing plugs, so I think I will do it through lowering of the supply warer hoses. Once it has been drained, I will refill the block through the thermostat housing and then fill the manifolds on each side.
