A Friend of mine has a Nissan 50hp ob engine on his pontoon. What do we need to do to winterize the engine. The motor is all the way down to keep water out of the foot. Do we need to fog the engine and run it dry of fuel?

Go to www.nissanmarine.com and you can download a free owners manual for whatever model 50 your friend has. That manual will have the correct procedure in it.

You don't really NEED to do anything to an outboard to winterize it other than make sure you store it tilted down so it can properly drain. Some good ideas are to change the lower unit oil in case there was any water intrusion during the season and fogging, as you mentioned, is never a bad idea. Treat your remaining fuel with Stabil.
