I'm back in the US for 1 week but it seems that isn't enough time to visit all the friends and family that I had planned. I'm so busy that I won't have time to run my boat engine this year.

As a recap, I finished a complete rebuild of my motor (in signature) last year in May, a few days before moving overseas. I completed 5 of the 10 hours of break-in recommended by OMC at that time. The engine has not run in the past year. What winterizing steps should I concentrate on for storing the motor for another year? The only thing that I have done was that I changed the gear oil yesterday.

Here is a link that lists some of the things that I did for the rebuild:

Thanks.

Re: Winterizing (at the beginnig of summer)

I should note that I won't have access to a proper water hook up where the boat is now and I won't be able to take it to the lake. Therefore, I can't start the motor. Can fogging oil be sprayed down into the carbs without the motor running? Or, would that just be a waste of time since the oil would not make its way down into the internals? I don't have fogging oil now and it would be very inconvenient for me to get some, though I could if it is worthwhile.

Also, how should I oil the cylinders? Last time, I used an oil squirt can with twc-3 oil and simply placed the flexible oil can outlet tube into the cylinders and squirted away. Is there a better way?

Spray some fogging oil into the spark plug holes as well as down the carb throats. Try to drain the fuel out of the carbs. Mix some stabilizer into the fuel tank. Grease any zercs. Spray head with corrosion guard spray.
