Winterizing Help!!!!!

I'm New to Boating and bought my first one. Should have done a little more research though, cause I ended up buying into an OMC Cobra 5.0 I had heard of them but never thought they were considered a bad choice due to the lack of parts. I found this out from these forums. Oh well, moving forward... It fired right up and seems to be in great shape. However I'm looking for any insite as to things to look for (or add) as part of my winterizing proccess. Any help you OMC Cobra experienced guys can give would be greatly appreciated.

I'm a little behind the eightball as we're going to get 4-5 inches of snow today. Boy am I a gluttan for punishment!!!

it's the very first thread in the i/o section...

water in your system is the enemy. at the very least, drain all the water out of it prior to the low temps....

If you listen to these guys, nothing is a good drive.

They all have some good qualities. But the bad qualities are parts availability.

Cobra is a good drive, just keep the oil fresh and full and the impeller changed every other year. Lube the u-joints and the gimbal every year and check the alignment.

Maintenance is the absolute key to a boats longevity.

I am running a 25 year old OMC Stringer and it is performing flawlessly.

A little behind???? I hope you got that sucker drained at least. It it cold enough to crack a block.

Really! I have had calls in the last couple days asking for winterizing!
Uhhh....Its been in the low 20's at night so it may be too late....

I know what you mean. Seriously, what do you charge somebody just to drive down to their house, put the muffs on, and start it and watch the block spray water. Gotta charge them something ya know.

I was thinking about that. Or it has a internal crack and come spring the milkshake oil would be blamed on me for being the last guy who worked on it.

Its 29 degrees out and dropping fast tonight....
One guy asked if i could get to his next week!
They think only a few cold nights and it should be "ok"....

Ayuh,... As noted above,.... Drain the Water out of it,... Everything else can wait...
Although, I'm guessing, you're already Waaaay tooo Late....
