I have a 1988 5.0 mercruiser with a Alpha 1 drive. I drained the block (two brass plugs) and the water jackets (two blue plastic plugs). Is there anything to drain on the lower unit or outdrive at all? I see a weep hole on the side that water comes out but anything else?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Winterizing lower unit

sounds like you need something to read.... http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=251571
looks like you should choose #9 + #6...

i've got a older drive than you. but once a year service that i'm doing is,
remove the prop and lub prop shaft
drain gear lub, inspect and replace
replace impeller
remove drive to check alignment
check gimble brg
lub coupler splines
grease ujoints
inspect bellows
lub any zerks w/proper grease.

there may be more. probably is, i just can't remember them all w/o looking myself... you need to read the service manual and it will tell you what to do. under manit. schedule.

confirm proper manual by serial number.

Thanks for the link that helps, its a lot better than the service book I got. As for the other item you listed. I will check things over but I just got the boat in Aug. and had it overhauled then so I know the bellows and gimbel and the like are new. Well maybe it has 5-10 hrs on it.
