I just attempted to winterize my boat and wanted to run it by you guys to make sure that I did it correctly. It is an 83 Bayliner 19' cuddy with a 4 cylinder Volvo engine IO. Let me know if I covered all bases. I did not take the impeller completely out as I was not sure how to do it without damaging it. This is what I did today:

What I did on 10-07-07

1. Remove drain plug from manifold.

2. Remove drain plug from copper pipe under

manifold. Probably did not need to be done.

3. Remove boat drain plug from back of boat.

4. Take off impeller cover and crank engine.

over to remove water. (larger bolts go on top

and bottom, smaller ones go on the side). Left cover off.

5. Lower outdrive.

6. Remove battery.

7. Put stable in gas tank.

8. Cover boat.

I hope that I did not miss anything. Please let me know and thanks.

I'm not the guy to ask on the outdrives and the required mechanicals surrounding their winterization however did you read the thread regarding keeping the mice/etc out in the winter? That might be your next step...I know I'm going to do something along those lines. It includes putting either mothballs and/or bounce fabric sheets in/around the boat interior to drive off pests. As well, there was a comment regarding removing the cushions and storing them inside....which makes perfect sense to me.
