Winterizing Question?

A while back i was having motor trouble and was unable to winterize my 85 HP Chrylser FORCE as well as i would have liked. Since i had to remove the head gasket and replace i fogged the internal mechanisms like that, but since the motor still has ignition problems i was unable to fog the carbs and run stabil through it. However, i always run seafoam in my gas to keep the carbs clean, so my question is, do you all think that this pseudo winterization will be sufficient since i couldn't fog the engine and stabilize the fuel using the traditional method. Im not so worried about the carbs as I am going to rebuild them anyway. Oh and the lower unit was drained and refilled, so that was done correctly. Thanks for the help.

Re: Winterizing Question?

Uh, Jack? I live in the Northeast with some fairly cold weather. Not like you, but winter, nonetheless. Do you know how I winterize my engines?

I back the boat into the driveway and tilt the engine down so it is vertical. That's it. The weather is cold enough that in the spring, the carb bowls still have fuel in them. Never have a problem with "old fuel" or varnish. AND--there is enough residual oil in the engine to protect against rust.

Smatter of fact, I have taken engines that have lain outside for years, disassembled, and found not a bit of rust.

Now, rather than start a discussion, I will say that maybe I have been lucky--maybe this would only work for me. You know, there will be a lot of fellows out there who will violently disagree and claim their way of winterizing is the only safe and correct way. I however, never have problems and I never use fogging oils, gas additives or engine cleaners. Who knows? maybe it's my reward for being ugly and having a short D**k

I've only been somewhat lucky & I'm not that good looking either. Must be that 3rd leg I ended up with.

Thanks for the help guys, i was just slightly concerned. I keep my boat int he garage at all times too, its never gotten below 32 in my garage, it has a insulated door and each wall is also insulated. I am sure im ok now. Thanks again.

yup frank ,works for me.
The only thing i do is drain the leg oil just in case there's water in it.
