Winterizing with a closed system?

I have a 350 OMC with a closed cooling system. If I make sure the coolant level is sufficient and down to -10 degrees, which it never is in our area and drain the risers, manifolds and lower the outdrive to drain, should this be enough to keep it from freezing or is there more to do.

Tell me if I'm wrong but with a closed system, I shouldn't have to drain the block, correct. Don't laugh. I'm just trying to understand engines.

If the weather allows, I may take it out during the winter for fishing and then do the process again.

I also plan to fog the spark plug holes, change the engine oil and outdrive lube and put Seafoam in topped off tanks.

...be certain to drain any heat exchanging devices.....oil coolers, power steering coolers.....and don't forget to empty the Porta-Potty !!!

You did not mention the heat exchanger, which is the most important thing. You need to find the correct procedures for your particular setup.

All the raw water needs to be drained....exchanger raw water side, hoses, manifolds, and don't forget the 3 plugs in the pivot housing if a Cobra...

BTW closed cooling should really be protected to -34, with 50/50 AF that gives you boil protection to 265* with a 15 lb cap...but in a marine application you should never be getting close to that....
