For winterizing the cylinders, do I just pull the plugs, squirt some oil into em & crank it over a couple times? My engine is an outboard.

Re: Winterizing your engine cylinders

You winterize the engine -- not just the cylinders. You drain and refill he lower unit. You add fuel stabilizer (SeaFoam or Stabil, etc.) to the fuel and run the engine long enough to get the treatment into the carbs. At this point you can spray fogging oil into the intake air box until you kill the engine. Put it to bed. It is actually unnecessary to fog the engine unless it will be layed up for more than six months. Doesn't hurt to do it if that's what you want to do.

The biggest thing you want to do is get treated gas in the carbs or drain them and change the lower oil, if there is any water in it you will know you need a seal kit and it will keep the water from freezing and hurting the lower.

I personnely drain my carbs and lsoer and get some fresh oil in and that is it, I will periodically turn the engine over by hand butr my boat is only laid up for 4 months from Nov to March.
