I have an F40 TLR, '06' Carbed motor. How do you winterise your fourstroke outboard motor?

Re: Winterizing

hi, you should remove all fuel from engine, carbs, bowls, filters etc,and pull off water hose at thermostat and let all water left drain out that may have not drained out it usually does when you pull motor up out of water. and if you are really redicilous like i am you can take out your plugs and spray wd-40 in cylinders and screw your plugs back in,that is how i make my engines last 2000 hours before there dead!

If you're running portable tanks and the fuel is not pre-mix, drain the tanks and come back in the Spring with fresh 100% gasoline.

Many will just pull the fuel line and let the engine run until it stumbles. Then, they'll spray fogging aerosol oil into the carbs. There's no reason to do anything about water in the engine as they're self draining.

It's best to go ahead and change the lower unit oil (in case water's in the grease) and slap new plugs in the engine. Then, you'll be ready for Spring.

And if you have electricity where your boat's stored, put a Battery Tender on the battery and it'll last much longer.
