Wire size question

I picked up a loud hailer...the leads are 24 awg. I'll have to splice in about a 5 ft. section to reach my radio. I have some 20 awg. Will that work or do I need to buy some 24 awg for the splice?

The 20 will work fine.

You can never go wrong splicing in wire that is larger than is required to run the device or that is already in place. If you splice a smaller wire in you will increase the resistance of the circuit causing heat and less efficient operation.
