Hi fellow boaters, I am rewiring my 87 alumicraft trophy 19. In lieu of re connecting the corresponding plastic couplers under dash I have decided to run pos & neg to a fuse block & replace old wiring. Have the following questions. Size of primary pos. & neg from batt to block and should this be fused before the block? Best size of st blade fuses for each circuit and wire size? This little block will handle six circuits and will feed into the old "Alumicraft" logo switch plate that is for lights, bilge , aerator and an accessory switch, I will also be adding lighted compass, graph/gps, and marine radio. Can some of these items be doubled up at the block? Thanks for any info.

Re: Wire size

Best to fuse or breaker it within 6" of the battery positive terminal. Then add whatever other individual circuit protection you need.

Most use 10ga wire from the battery or battery switch to the fuse panel. With a 30A breaker or fuse at the battery or switch.

Depends on the size wiring from the fuse. 14ga wire use 15A fuse, 16ga would get a 10A. Those are max for those size wires, you can fuse for less if you want to protect a low current item you have installed, just don't go bigger.
