I picked up the wireless control for my new MK Powerdrive. The unit screws on to the outside of the base, and plugs into the unit receptacle that the foot control would normally plug into.
It works a treat! I'll keep the foot control as a backup, but the wireless system allows you to control the direction and speed from anywhere on the boat with a keyfob. I found the foot control a wee bit hard to work at times, since a light tap left or right would often result in oversteering. Since we are more adept with our hands at control than our feet, this makes for a nice option.
The fob floats too, so if it goes overbaord, hopefully you can retrieve it. They should have made it flourescent orange, not black, but hey.
Other nice thing is, if you're fishing alone and have the fob on around your neck on the provided neck cord, if you misstep or take a tumble off the boat, you could stop the trolling motor remotely, instead of watching your boat move off at a stately 2 knots leaving you to tread water, or worse.
