Just curious if anyone has one of these on their pontoon. Seems like a great idea with the remote and the wireless foot pedal.

Now to decide between the Motor Guide one and the Minn Kota one. Decisions, decisions. :)

Re: Wireless Trolling Motor

I put a motorguide wireless on my toon just the other day. Haven't had it on the water yet, but I'm sure it is going to be sweet since now I can basically troll from the comfort of the shade produced by my bimini top and still catch crappie slabs all day. Yea I'm so ready for my next fishing trip just thinking bout it.

Have one on my fishing boat and love it, they are great, I have a 55lb Motorguide wireless.

They are just so cool, you clip the remote on your pants and you are ready to go from anywhere on the boat.

This is my 3rd year with the Motroguide and so far no problems at all, I even used it to troll the 3 miles upstream to the launch when my engine wouldn't start.

Re: Wireless Trolling Motor

Just put my 50lb Motorguide on my pontoon yesterday. We have a seasonal site and the weather has been so crappy they haven't put the slips out yet. I had this on my 16ft Sylvan boat and it worked great. I'm sure it won't pull the pontoon around as fast as it did the boat but should work OK. I'll find out in about two weeks.
Love the wireless remote.

I'm with these guys. 70# motorguide with the little clip on remote. Like the old Beach Boy song... "I get around"

Re: Wireless Trolling Motor

Got my pontoon out last weekend and had a chance to try out the trolling motor. Worked great. Moved the boat along fine in protected water and still move from one place to another in the wind. Just not as fast. I only have a 12 volt 50 lb thrust but it will do just what I want it need it to do. I can move quietly along a weed line, stop, back up, and pretty much put that pontoon anywhere I want it. So, if you just need to move your boat around like I do a 50 and up will do the job. If you need to troll aginst a stiff wind you'll need more.

MJC a good way to stow that motor while underway is to loosen that height adjuster and just pull it straight up. There is enough clearance between my bow and motor to pull mine all the way up against the stop. I tighten the height adjuster and leave the motor sticking straight up. It isn't laying back across the deck then.
