2003 Tracker Marine(mercury) First time running the boat in March after buying and I take off and then after running the boat full speed it shuts down, finally get it started back up and then it only goes 30 and only gets to 4000rpm max. I get home and all the wires are melted together and they are sparking. Take it to a repair shop and they change the stator saying that’s the issues and doesn’t fix anything it still only goes 30 and 4000rpm max. Would you have any advice as to what the issue is because the mechanic obviously did not. Any advice would be appreciated I’m a college guy on a budget and got swindled by the last mechanic I believe.
