I installed a trim sending unit on my Mercury 40ELPT EFI (2006) which did not come from the factory with one.
I purchased the extender cable/harness that plugs into the Motor Control box harness connector, which has a "TRIM" connection, with the others, temp, tach & ect.) The trim wire in the extender harness connector connects to a yellow wire coming out of the motor control box. I don't know what this yellow wire is that runs into the control box or where it terminates. The trim sender wires are BROWN/WHITE at the sending unit and the gauge connection but there is no brown/white in the control box or at the engine at the end of the harness, that I can find.
I want to connect the sender wire from the sender to a wire in the engine that will run up to the trim wire in the extender cable.
Thanks for any help!!
(I'd rather not run a separate wire if I don't have to)
