I am wiring a 15' Jon boat with tiller steering. I am looking for a box that can be mounted on the port side of the rear seat to house a tach, fused bus bar, and switch panel as the boat has no console. Is anyone aware of an aluminum or composite box that is made for this purpose? I've considered building one out of marine grade plywood but would like to know if I have other options. Thanks for any replys!

I would build one out of 3/8 ply and some fiberglass. That way you build it however you want it set up.

I have a box on my boat that is plastic on the sides and aluminum on the face. I use it for my switches and for my push button start. I dont see any markings on it but dont quit looking...because this was definately made for this purpose. Sorry I dont have the name of the manufacturer.

I went on ebay and found a powder coated steel box that is 12" x 8" x 7" that could work for what your looking for. The top is angled so it would put your switches in a good position. Its item # 300009472367
Hope that helps

I thought it might. You might have to screw the lid shut so nobody will open it up when you dont want them to but it looked like a good possibility. The one I have has a metal cover that slides out. I think it was intended to be used for an audio custom switch box. You might try to search sound sites that deal with PA Systems. Good Luck
