I am installing in my old pontoon boat a 2015 Mercury 115 HP engine and a new remote box, wiring harness, SC1000 tach, and its wiring harness. It is apparent where the male and female 10-pin connections go, but there are several other wires whose functions are not obvious. There is no wiring diagram information with the parts so I need help to understand what these wires are for. My intent is to use the remote box solely to operate the Mercury engine, and the only gauge that will be connected to the system is the SC1000 monitor.

The harness for the SC1000 monitor has a 3-wire connector and one purple and one tan wire. What are they for?

The harness coming from the remote box has five single capped color coded wires near the box. What are they for?

Based on my reading of some older threads here, I suspect all these wires are for old gauges and functions I will not need. I'm looking for confirmation or correction of my assumption.

Nevermind. The Mercury tech says my assumption was correct and I do not need to connect those wires.
