I am going to re-wire my 14' Starcraft and have a couple questions. My boats electrical needs are: navigation lights, livewell, bilge pump, fish finder, power outlet, trolling motor, and my 15hp. Evinrude has electric start. I have a Blue Sea 6-fuse panel with ground buss I am going to use and I want to put my one group 27 deep cycle in an Atwood box. I can figure out the low current circuits, it's how to handle the trolling motor. My trolling motor is a MK Model 35 and the wires have alligator clamps on them. I am thinking the Evinrude wires go right to the battery. I would like some remote posts I could mount on the transom to clip my TM wires to and also to charge the battery through, but I can't seem to find what i'm looking for. If I found such a thing I would run #4 wire to them with a heavy (TBD) fuse right at the battery. Would I then power my fuse block from there or straight from the battery? A link to something I can clamp my TM wires to would be great! Thanks.

I should add my TM is a transom mount so the Evinrude, the TM, fuse panel, and the battery are all within 2 feet of eachother.

Re: Wiring a 14' Aluminum Boat

Take the outboard straight to the battery, a suitable size, looks like 8 gauge power and ground to your fuse block, and you are right on track with the powering of your accesories. As for your trolling motor and remote charging poles 4 ga may be a little overkill but hey bigger is better in most cases with wiring. As far as the poles for the clamps and charger I ended up making my own with a couple of 3/8 bolts and a piece of ply that I had laying around worked out pretty nice. Just hit me up if you have any questions.
