I just bought a sailboat. Its a 17'er, small cuddy cabin, but it doesn't have any electricity. I have a feeling its pretty simple but can anyone give me some advice on how to get the boat wired for a radio, lights, etc..?
I don't need much, probably a battery and wire. Give it to me straight.

Lurk around the Compac chat groups, they may have some tips & tricks that are boat specific. Otherwise, it just a matter of planning it out and doing it.

The basics of wiring are the same for sail or power boats. I'm going to move this over to our electrical forum, I am sure you will get the information and help you are hoping for. Also be sure to check the stickies at the top of the forum for basic wiring diagrams.

Here is a diagram of a basic, single circuit from the battery to the device.

Only if the mast can withstand the 18 pounds of weight at the top. And if you must lower the mast, do you realize how difficult it is raising and lowering a very long pole with 18 pounds at one end?
