Does anyone have a wiring diagram for adding a tach to a V4 Johnson, 1975 vintage? I'm not sure where on the motor to pick up signal.
Any help appreciated.

On these old crossflows, the factory made provision for supporting a tach. The wire harness inside the control box should have a wire end left cutoff inside the box. Grey in color. If you open the box and draw the wire end through the hole in the bottom of the control box-that's the wire you need. That is the signal wire to drive the tach. Any marine tach. Just add a positive and negative power source. You may want to connect up the light for the tach also.

Good info above from emdsapmgr. you may have to set the pulse number setting on the back of the tach for your engine though. JMHO!
