Hi All, I'm in the process of replacing the +12V and ground lines for my sending unit since the battery shorted on the boat, causing my ground to fry up. The trouble is I've lost the ability to fish the new wires through the original route. I recently riveted a new floor down and I'd like to not have to rip the board up. Should I rip the board up, or can I run new lengths of wires to the back of the boat and back up the side to the gauge/panel? Would this long run of wire mess with the resistance for the sending unit, causing errors in the fuel level measurement? I've attached a couple rough sketches of the old wiring and new proposed wiring. Thanks for the help!

Ayuh,..... Yer talkin' 'bout the gas gauge sender, Right,..??

Most boats are wired like you propose,.....

If yer concerned, up-grade the wire to the next size larger,....
