New wiring install "outside" steel frame and "outside" axle tube.

If re-installing new trailer wiring and want to use much better outside steel frame and outside steel axle tube method using much better STAR wiring design, here's how I did the upgrade on my Boat Trailer.

STAR wiring design, surf:

If your Boat trailer is dragged across long grass and other garbage areas, protecting its electric brake wiring is critical. If extra safety support is needed (like on my one utility trailer), do install a support chain for its brake wiring. For example, surf: http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w251/Spike99-Pictures/Trailer wiring/100_1433.jpg

Notes: All wire joints (even inside electrical box) are soldered, shrink wrapped and coated with liquid tape. And if possible, wrapped with electrical tape as well. Little holes are drilled on electrical box cover - to let water drain out of it.

Why PVC, PLEX and plastic loom? Plastic sheaf on wiring rubbing against plastic PVC/PEX/Wire loom takes a very long time to wear away. Wiring outside axle can be easily inspected. PVC/PEX/Plastic Loom doesn't rust out. And, it's very easy to install.

If wondering, all my Boat, Utility and RV trailers get similar STAR design as well.

Hope this helps others....
