Wiring Cover (from motor to splashwell) What To Use?

Hello,
Just wondering if anyone had any input on what to use to cover the wiring from the side of the motor to the splashwell. I typically see a black rubber sheath cover (that splits from time to time) to keep water out.

I was thinking about using some automotive fuel or heater hose... or possibly some "loom" wire cover minus the slit. Also thought about some of the plastic electrical conduit but only found in blue so far.

Anyone have any ideas on what to use?

Thanks Much

You don't want anything that is "sealed". What moisture that does get in, and it will, can?t get out.

I tried several different things and keep going back to wrapping them with electrical tape every 12-14" between the splash well entry and the motor. I like the "mesh" tubes but can't find one that will fit in the cable entrance to my motor.

I had a short that fried my ground wire form the engine to the key switch and after replacing the wire I wrapped it with electrical tape, if you do it carefully it looks almost factory and I have never had a problem with it.

I don't know how you woudl get the harness through a hose, the red plug is huge and you certainly don't want to cut all your wires.

Check this out in the I-boats store, electrical department, T-H Flex Cable Jacketing. I haven' used it or even seen it, but it sounds like a good possibility.

My boat has the hard, segmented hose protecting it from engine to transom. No moisture problems, but I have had to change the throttle cable and it was a pain in the ***.

Use T-H Marine 2" rigging hose with the rigging port. Been using it at the OEM level for 17 years on all makes of motors...

Thanks so much for the replies... "jacketing" and "sleeving", that's the ticket!

I don't need 50' or 100'. Was hoping to just get a short piece or find a low cost viable alternative (such as perhaps the automotive hose?).

Thanks

I used a vacuum cleaner hose that I cut open and twisted and tied with tie straps on the ends...looks neat.......
