wiring diagram for a 74 johnson

can someone give me a wiring diagram schematic for a 1974 johnson 50hp. the key switch dose not work. i have to "hotwire" it to start it and therefore i have to "choke" it to shut it off. i am wondering if it is a key switch or something else and that is why i need the diagram. i would also like to hardwire allthe wires to the wires that i have from an 2001 35hp johnson. some of the wires are the same colors and that is why i think it can be done but i am not sure of some of them because of different colors. i do not want to buy a shop book cab someone please help me out. to hell with the copyright infringments! also where is the tell tale? do i even have one?

the key switch should be the same for 1973-76, then there were changes to the motors so i don't know if the contiued to be the same. you do not have a tale tell one could be added. you have the exhaust relief ports 1/2 way on the exhaust leg. check with your library.

It's similar to the post-1977 wiring in the thread, but the ignition switch is less one post because the choke solenoid had a toggle switch and did not go through the ignition switch. The gray tachometer sender wire was taped off inside the control.

If the motor was a tiller model, the wiring would be totally different.
