I need to find a wiring diagram for my 1995 130hp johnson for the ignition switch. I know the purple white wire is for the choke but what about the rest?

Make sure that for normal running the red handle on the primer solenoid is aligned with the cylindrical base of the solenoid as shown.

Re: wiring diagram for ignition switch

Please explain to me how this is the same question i posted the other day. It is involving the electrical part of it. The other post was about the red lever. I was looking for the wiring diagram and the other poster simply suggested that i make sure the red switch is in the right direction. I was not trying to repost the same question twice. I simply needed the diagram. Thanks and sorry if I went about it the wrong way.

Re: wiring diagram for ignition switch

The primer solenoid is just a valve and does not inject or pressurize anything. The fuel has to be pressurized prior to reaching it either by cranking the engine which operates the fuel pump or by pumping the primer bulb on the fuel line. For that reason alone, it is generally more effective to hold the key in while cranking for a cold start.

The primer solenoid and the starter solenoid place a large load on the ignition wiring when operated together, so it is especially important that the wires from the wiring harness are in good shape and solidly connected on both of the solenoids - especially the ground wires.

Often a weakness in this function can indicate a poor negative battery connection or cable.
