Engine was removed from the boat and wiring harness was cut competely into several times. No idea what wires go to ignition switch and choke. Motor does not have tilt trim. Color code will help a lot.

See what the maxrules web site has. Generally, if you find a wiring diagram of a motor of about the same year, it will be close enough. Wiring colors are pretty standard for motors after the 80's.

Johnnyrude transitioned from a single big red plug (the 80's and early 90's) to several Deutch or Amphenol connectors in the late 90's.

I am too lazy to look up the year of your motor, but you will likely need it to pick the proper diagram.

Since the end of the wiring cable was cut off I have no clue as to which wires go to the ignition switch/choke which was apparently trashed. Yes it is a 93 model 40hp Evenrude engine. The boat was scuttled with little thought as to wiring harness for the engine.

On a '93, the engine wiring harness colors will be standard. Red is +12VDC, purple is ignition power, black is ground, black/yellow is ign killer wire, grey is tachometer signal, yellow/red is starter solenoid, yellow/black is choke, tan is overheat. If you have warnings for the oil injection, they are tan plus different color stripes for low oil and no oil.
