Wiring In Volt Meter

I'm guessing this is very easy, but checking first. To add a volt meter in the dash, after drilling & mounting, do I simply patch in a + 12v from another gauge (like the tach) and a - to the neg. terminal strip? Thanks.

I think you got it right.
basically any switched +12 source.
As long as it goes off with the ignition your good to go.
