So here's the deal, i bought a attwood submersible trailer lighting kit that comes with the lights for each side, a licence plate holder and all the wire that you need. As i re-wired the trailer(very easy) i double checked everything and hooked it up. Now here's the problem...I have lights on the trailer but no turn signals or brake lights. I checked the ground and all is good there. I'm lost and would really appreciate some guidence. Thanks for your time!!

does you tow vehicle have brakes or turn signals? check your green wire which feeds your right side brake/turn for power when brake and/or turn is on and yellow is for left. check to make sure you have all your functions at your connector on the tow vehicle as well

It will seperate the taillights from the blinkers and brakelights. I had to do that on my nissan pickup. I could not get it to work for the life of me and called a place that installs hitches and the guy told me I needed it. It was a simple install and everything worked after that.

The 2002 TB does not need a converter. It should be all wired up from the factory.

If you are missing the tail lights and brake lights, suspect a ground wire problem as there are two separate wires from the TB to the trailer that make these lights work. When the ground is bad strange things can happen that will keep you guesing.

I like to start off checking the power at the plug on the trailer. Pick up a light tester (light bulb with two wires) at an automotive shop and put one wire to the ground pin and the other wireto the other pins. Make sure each is working here. Then go back to the trailer and start checking there.

Is the white wire from the plug on the trailer connected to the frame? Have you cleaned the frame where the white wire is connected so there is no rust, oil or dirt?

Go at it slowly and methodically and you will figure it out. It may even be two separate problems.

I just re-wired my trailer and had no lights at all. Come to find out the ground wasn't good where I put it. Had to run a longer wire and ground it farther back. If you have a tilt trailer you might not be getting ground though the pivot point of the trailer. That was my problem. Run extra wire back from the tongue to the light stud and see if that makes every thing work.

Check the fuses, located under the hood. There are separate fuses for all the lights, and separate fuses for the trailer lights.

Seems to me if there are some lights, but not others, the ground is good.

If both ends mean all the way to the light? i would check your gound, also as stated above put direct power and ground to the light and go from there. Did it work with your tow vehicle before you rewired it?

Does the TrailBlazer have seperate brakelight/ turnsignal lens? Have someone step on the brakes while the signal is on....does the brake light on that side flash, or does another light start blinking? If the brake light stays on and another light flashes you will need the converter.... factory wiring or not. The converter changes a three filament system ( tail, brake, turn ) into a two filament system (tail, brake/turn ).

I suspect "both ends" means continuity...... just a guess though

X2 on the trailer fuses under the hood VERY common problem

The TB has a fuse for each turn signal to the trailer. That both are not working would mean that two fuses are blown or not installed. Posssible, but less likely. Get a light or a volt meter and check at the plug on the vehicle. That will tell you if the power is at the plug, and in which direction you should look. It is actually easier to do this than find the fuses for the lights.

With bad grounds all kinds of strange things can happen. If you have acess to a power supply or a battery, try to power up the wires to the lights. First try at the light itself and then at the plug on the trailer.

Don't assume anything as the strangest things can prevent the lights from working.

The 2002 Trailblazer uses the same bulb for turn and running. It does not need a converter. The only odd thing on the Trailblazer is that the wire for the constant 12 V on the plug is disconnected at the fuse panel under the hood. Makes for fun if you pull a travel trailer and don't realize it on your first trip. The battery in the trrailer can run down and the fridge won't be cold.
