Re: Wiring Issues

Is that MerControl from the 70s? The motor should have the standard newer wire colors. Purple is switched +12VDC, which correcponds to the white wire on the older merControls. Tach sender is grey, which connects to brown, and ground is black on both control and motor.

Re: Wiring Issues

Thanks for the insight, the controller is from 1998. I picked up a 07 motor that required a harness adaptor. The coil of wires running from the control is my issue now though. My gauges have plugs. Blue/Illumination, Purple/+12v, Black/ Ground but it is the others that I am not sure about....How can I determine, tester, meter ?! Thanks again as always!

Re: Wiring Issues

You might pick up a wiring daigram. The colors I know of the top of my head are: Tan with various tracers is temp sender and other warning sensors(oil pressure or low oil), black/yellow is ign killer, yellow is power to starter solenoid, Yellow wires on stator are AC charging wires.
