Hi guys. I have the engine out of my boat doing a maintenance and cleaning somewhere in a previous ownership the two wires that go to the (I'm guessing field wiring) had the connections replaced. I didn't take note of the orientation before I took it apart. On the alt one wire is white and the other is red, the engine wires are red and purple. Any help on the proper way to connect this would be great.

Have a serial number or year of the engine? (not boat, engine)

Took me a while but I found it. I think I searched every manual I have....

Wires are as follows:

Excitation wire - White from the alternator, purple in the harness. (switched with the ignition key)
Sense wire - Red from the alternator, red/purple in the harness. (always on, whenever the battery switch is on)

HTH,

Chris..........
