Picture it, boat sitting on the trailor in the driveway waiting for that sunny summers day when you take your wife and children out to that favourite island for a picnic............
Looked out the window a couple of weeks ago and wondered why the dogs were playing happily undert the boat. Silly me thinks,"Thats nice, they're playing happily".
As young dogs they need a fair bit of exercise and excitement in their lives.
Luckily for us we decided to do some maintanence and when checking under the boat wondered why there was wires everywhere!
Trailor wires all chewed up and bits hanging everywhere! Sounder chewed up and the wire just hanging limp from the transon! Speedo pitot chewed up and most of it missing! Both mudflaps missing, still not found!
It took darn near a whole bottle of 25yr old Port to get over that one and I'm still angry with them for it. They know too! whenever I check out the boat they run over to the other side of the section and just look at me. All I did was to yell at them!
Ross

Re: Wiring problems

Im really sorry to hear that. I know its frustrating.

My first Step Mother had a dog that loved to chew up my dads boat covers.

My Dad splurged on a nice one with elastic around the bottom to hold it on. Somehow the dog got wrapped up in the bungie cord part of the cover. He had it wrapped around one leg and his testicles. No telling how long the silly dog had been that way before we found him.

When we cut the bungie cord, he took off at in a sidways run, yelping every step. He never went near the boat again.

Re: Wiring problems

Been there to Ross. During the hot summer days Tucker my chocolate lab liked to sleep under the boat. Little did I know he was doing more than sleeping. Besides the wiring he ate my transducer, that wasn't cheap. Ended up putting a fence around my boat to keep him out. To much time and money!

Re: Wiring problems

My mother has a couple of cats that I would just love to ring their neck. They have used my seats in the boat as scratching posts, & I could swear I smell a funny urine smell in my boat that drives me crazy, hairballs on the floor. I feel your pain. Waiting for the boat cover before I take it back over there.

Re: Wiring problems

If you wanna get rid of that smell and keep the cats out then dilute lemon juice and spray it around the interior. Citric acid apparently isn't good for cats and they stay away from the smell-and it kills the ammonia in the urine.

I used to keep a supersoaker filled with it for my old neighbours cats as she wouldn't keep them indoors and they used to do the same in my speedboat. They learned quite quickly to stay away.

Re: Wiring problems

When my dog Precious was a pup, she ate the wiring harness on my lawn tractor. She completely tore the whole thing off of the tractor. It was a total b!tch to rewire it from scratch with no clue how it was wired up in the first place.

Thanks for the lemon juice tip Nos4r2 (or should that be "Vampman") - I'll try it cause the Quinny cuddy is the b-l-o-o-d-y cat's favourite plaything!
